Aftercare
Plinest & Plinest Face aftercare
Plinest is a polynucleotide skin booster made from highly purified DNA fragments. It works by gently waking up your skin's own repair process, improving hydration, collagen and elasticity — so it boosts the quality and texture of the skin rather than adding volume like a filler. Plinest is used across the face, neck and décolletage, while Plinest Face is a finer formulation made for the more delicate areas of the face, including around the eyes.
Your treatment plan
- Plinest — a course of around 2–3 sessions, spaced 3–4 weeks apart, for the face, neck and décolletage.
- Plinest Face — the same style of course, using a finer formula tailored to delicate facial skin and the under-eye area.
- Results build over 4–8 weeks and peak a couple of months after your final session, typically lasting 6–12 months.
- Maintenance is usually one session every 6–9 months. I'll recommend the right plan for your skin at your appointment.
Before your appointment
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, fish oil and other blood thinners to reduce the risk of bruising.
- Be well hydrated and eat a meal before your appointment.
- Polynucleotides are derived from purified fish DNA, so please let me know about any fish or seafood allergy.
- Plinest is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
What to expect
Straight after treatment you'll usually see small raised bumps at each injection point. These are normal and generally settle within 24–48 hours as the product absorbs.
Mild redness, swelling and tenderness are common, and small bruises can happen — these usually settle within 24–48 hours, though the under-eye area can take a little longer. Arnica cream can help with bruising.
A cold compress and sleeping propped up on a few pillows for the first night can help any swelling settle.
Aftercare
- Avoid makeup over the treated area for 12–24 hours to reduce the risk of infection.
- Keep skincare gentle for a day or two and try not to touch or massage the area.
- Drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated.
- Avoid alcohol for 48 hours.
- Avoid blood-thinning medicines such as aspirin or ibuprofen for 24 hours, as they can worsen bruising (if these are prescribed by your GP, check before stopping them).
- Avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming, sunbeds and extremes of hot and cold for 48 hours, or until any redness and swelling have settled.
- Protect your skin from strong sun and use SPF.
Seek help if…
- Vascular occlusion is a rare complication of any injectable where a blood vessel is accidentally blocked. Signs include throbbing or aching pain (which can be severe), paleness, a cold feeling in the tissue, and purple, streaky or mottled skin. Contact me immediately if you notice these.
- For treatment near the eyes, any change to your vision needs immediate attention — contact me and seek medical advice.
- Signs of infection — hot, increasingly red, shiny or painful skin, possible pus, a fever or feeling generally unwell — need medical attention. Contact me as soon as possible.
- Severe allergy symptoms — rash, facial swelling or difficulty breathing — need emergency medical attention (999).
Follow-up
Please attend any follow-up appointments, even if healing seems to be going perfectly. We'll review how your skin has responded and plan your next session. If anything in this aftercare is unclear, just ask.
