To get the perfect results from your treatment there are some things you need to do to help me out. I will do my part, you need to do yours
Before any permanent make up procedure, we will have a consultation where we will discuss the procedure and assess whether you are a suitable candidate. We will also do a patch test to make sure you will not have any reactions to the pigment. This will take place at least 24 hours before your appointment.
You can read more about whether you are a suitable candidate in the treatment sections here.
Before all micro pigmentation procedures I advice against the following:
- No caffeine 24 hours before appointment (including tea, coffee inc decaf, and pre workout
- No alcohol 24 hours before appointment
- No blood thinners including aspirin, ibuprofen before your appointment
- No vitamin E or fish oil before your appointment
These steps would ensure less bruising, bleeding and swelling which will make it easier for me to work on your skin, ensure better healing and pigment retention. The pigment will be pushed out by the blood. It will also make the procedure more comfortable for you.
If you do other facial treatments:
- Waxing/tinting/threading/electrolysis should be done 4 days before procedure
- Botox treatments should be done 4 weeks before your procedure
- Facials/ Chemical peels should be done 4 days before the procedure
- No retinin-A or Retinols 30 days prior
Your health comes first. You will not be able to receive semi permanent make up if:
- You are pregnant or breast feeding
- Are younger than 18 years old
- You have diabetes
- You have a skin disease such as psoriasis or eczema (in that area and it is flaring up)
- You are on blood thinning medication such as aspirin and warfarin
- You have transmittable blood conditions such as HIV or Hepatitis
- You have haemophilia
- You have healing disorders or uncontrollable blood pressure
- You are on any skin medications such as Accutane or steroids
- You have active skin cancer
- You are undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy (consult your doctor)
- You have epilepsy
- You have a pacemaker or major heart problems
- You had botox in the past one month
Useful steps to make your experience better
- Drink plenty of water to ensure skin is hydrated
- Take arnica tablets before and after your procedure to help with swelling and bruising
- Keep your lips well moisturised the week up to your lip blush appointment. You may use a lip balm or vaseline to unsure lips are not chapped and cracked
- If your brows are extremely untidy, book yourself in for a wax with myself in advance (at least 4 days prior). We can do your consultation and patch test on this visit also
- Do some research on the procedure so you know what to expect and become familiar of the healing process. Please note that some swelling and scabbing is expected after your tattoo/microblading, and plan any important occasions coming up with this in mind.
Numbing cream
The new law has passed which means Semi permanent make up artists and other aesthetic practitioners in the UK are no longer allowed to administer numbing cream to their clients.
Before your appointment I advise all my clients to buy their own numbing cream and apply a thick layer to the area 20 minutes before the appointment. A numbing cream I recommend is Emla, which you can purchase from any pharmacy or drug stores such as Boots and Superdrug.
Applying a numbing cream will make the procedure as comfortable and pain free as possible. If you are allergic to Emla we can still perform the procedure, as some clients use zero numbing cream and remain comfortable – however it all depends on the individuals threshold.
