Aftercare

Once you have your new brows or lips (and are in love) you will need to follow some instructions to keep your new make up looking flawless. Following the correct after care will ensure the best results that will last.

Semi permanent make up could last 12 months up to 2 years depending on your skin type and how well you look after the area during the healing period. Results could last even longer with colour boosts from 6-10 months. Remember that all procedures require 2 sessions, the initial appointment and then a top up after 4-6 weeks. The top up session would be quicker than the first session and is vital you attend for the best results. The top up session is to add any extra strokes/colour and to finalise the finished product to ensure it is perfect.

Aftercare for SPMU

  • The area will get dry and scab over. DO NOT pick the skin off or remove any scabs – let this happen naturally. Picking will result in uneven colour and increases the chances of an infection.
  • Avoid taking any blood thinners. If you need to take a painkiller take paracetamol
  • Avoid hot temperatures. No saunas, hot tubs, sun beds, sun bathing and steam rooms. Avoid long hot showers and baths.
  • Avoid hot sweaty workouts for the first 4 days
  • No swimming in lakes/pools/ocean for the first week.
  • Apply the ointment provided to the treated area with clean hands. Apply to the lips when needed to reduce flakiness and peeling. Apply a small amount to the brows without suffocating them. We want to keep the lips moisturised and the eyebrows dry.
  • Sleep with a clean pillow case
  • Avoid wearing make up on the area until it is healed. You will know when you are fully healed when the skin has peeled off and the skin below is fresh and smooth. See healing process below.
  • Avoid direct sunlight – wear a hat until the area has healed.

Aftercare for eyebrows

  • In addition to above,
Keep the area dry until the brows are fully scabbed over (at least 7 days). Take extra care when washing your face to not get the scabs wet. If you wet the brows by accident, pat dry with a clean tissue and avoid drying with towels to minimise the risk of infection. No rubbing.
  • When applying the ointment, apply a small amount on each brow. You do not want to suffocate the brow, the scab should remain dry and not damp. Apply twice a day.
  • Avoid any hair removal in the area until brows are fully healed.
  • Please note on day 2 the eyebrows will appear bold and dark. They may shrink in size. You will need a top up in 4-6 after your first appointment. Please see healing process below.

After care for lips

  • In addition to above,
  • Swelling is normal and will subside in 24-48 hours. Some peoples swelling goes down in as little as two hours. Swelling is a healthy bodily response and the amount you swell varies from each individual.
  • Lip neutralisation usually swells a bit more, and you may need more than one top up session to get to the desired look depending on your lip colour. Your lips may appear darker than before during the healing session. You may need to give longer time in between top up sessions (usually 6-8 weeks to ensure lips are fully healed before tattooing again).
  • Avoid licking your lips and getting them wet. After brushing your teeth pat dry with a clean tissue and drink from a straw. You want to keep the lips dry from moisture other than the ointment provided.
  • Take extra care when eating, especially with spicy and citrus foods.
  • Apply the ointment with clean hands or use a cotton bud. Apply the ointment several times throughout the day to keep them moisturised and comfortable. (not wet)
  • Do not pick any loose skin, as tempting as it may seem, picking the flaking skin will result in uneven results and loss of colour.
  • Once the dry skin has completely peeled away (naturally) your lips will look lighter in colour. The colour will resurface in another week. You will need a top up in 4-6 weeks after your first appointment. Please see healing process below.

Lymth fluid

In addition to swelling, another healthy response you will notice is the production of lymph fluid. This clear fluid may appear as droplets on your lips/brows and crystallise once dried. Gently blot away any fluid using clean hands and a clean dry tissue. Do not rub or pick.

Please plan the timing of your SPMU treatment before any special events and take into consideration the time needed to heal.

Heal, Peel, Fade

After day 1 the area will begin to heal, then peel and fade. This is totally normal and the colour will begin to reappear around days 14-28
